Penny Marshall has died at age 75

Actress Penny Marshall has passed away.  She was 75.

Ms. Marshall played the role of Myrna Turner on the TV series "The Odd Couple" and then took the role of Laverne DeFazio on "Happy Days."  That role led to a very popular spin-off series called "Laverne and Shirley" where she was paired with actress Cindy Williams.

She directed memorable movies:  "Big" with Tom Hanks, "Awakenings" with Robin Williams and a great baseball movie called "A League of Their Own."  Her brother was the famous director Garry Marshall.   She was treated for lung and brain cancer in 2009.
