Imagine... even just 50 years ago - these storms would have been incredible killers.
To have seen the eye of the storm means you have survived the initial storm and another wave of torrential wrath is about to bear siege to you once again.
I don't blame ancient peoples for thinking these storms were the wrath of the gods, not much on earth compares.
