Black Friday Posts New Single Day Record For Gun Checks

The FBI is dealing with a record number of gun background checks following Black Friday.  Over 200,000 background check requests for gun purchases flooded the Bureau, setting a new single-day record for the intelligence agency.  Gun background checks are required at federally licensed gun shops.

However, they aren't an actual measure of gun sales, since multiple firearms can be included in one transaction. This news comes days after Attorney General Jeff Sessions ordered a review of the system.

This system allowed a court-martialed Air Force veteran to buy the gun he used to murder 25 people in a Texas church earlier this month.
