U.S. Supreme Court Won't Hear Case On Assault Weapon Ban

The U.S. Supreme Court is declining to hear a challenge to Maryland's 2013 state ban on assault weapons. The ban was put into place after the Sandy Hook Connecticut massacre in December of 2012.

The challenge was brought to the court by a handful of Maryland residents, firearms dealers and the Maryland state NRA, claiming it  violates their Second Amendment right to bear arms.  Last year the U.S. Supreme Court also left assault weapon bans in place in New York and Connecticut.
