Russia Announces It Will Expel 60 U.S. Diplomats

Russia announced that they will expel 60 U.S. diplomats from the country in retaliation for a similar move by the United States last week. Russia also said it will close the U.S. consulate located in St. Petersburg.

After the United States announced it would be closing the Russian consulate in Seattle the Russian embassy tweeted a poll asking which consulate they should close in response. St. Petersburg won the vote with 47% of the vote.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that other countries that expelled Russian diplomats can expect a similar response. Two dozen countries have kicked over 150 Russian diplomats out after accusing Russia of being involved in the attempted murder of a former Russian spy in Great Britain using a deadly nerve agent.
