A bill sponsored by Senators Steve Oroho and Bob Smith would make it illegal to feed whitetail deer except as bait for hunting, per a report in today's New Jersey Herald. The bill would also help the "Hunters Helping the Hungry" program.
After a written warning, a violator could be subjext to a fine somewhere between $200 and $500 for a first offence.
"It's no secret that deer can be a nuisance in New Jersey's rural and suburban communities," Sen. Oroho said in a release. "Car accidents involving deer account for thousands of collisions a year across the state."
