Well, happy National Martini Day! (There's a day for everything nowadays.)
The classic martini calls for 3 ounces of gin, a few drops of vermouth to taste, and an olive. That's it.
Now there are a good number of martini purists who adhere to certain rules when it comes to martinis:
It it's sweet, it's not a martini.
If it's green, pink, orange, blue, or red, it's not a martini.
If it's called a cosmopolitan, or metropolitan or an appletini, it's really not a martini.
