The New Jersey Herald reports today that a goat that escaped from a livestock auction a year ago has finally been captured in Hackettstown.
The goat was often seen in the company of a herd of deer and was affectionately named Fred by local residents. According to Hackettstown police, the deer was captured on Tuesday not far from the auction market and returned to its owner.
Last month, nearly 75 goats and sheep escaped from the auction market. Most of those were rounded up on the same day.
