Can Lottery Winners Remain Anonymous?

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight is a staggering one billion dollars.  Tomorrow night's Power Ball jackpot is a crazy $470 million dollars.

So if you win the big money, can you remain anonymous?  It depends. Only six states allow you to do so: Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina.  In New Jersey, in 2013, Governor Chris Christie vetoed legislation that would allowed lottery winners to remain under-the-radar.  

It's possible to set up a trust before you claim your cash, but this can be a complicated process.  There is precedent for it in New Jersey.
