Happy Birthday today (Oct. 19) to guitarist Patrick Simmons. He's 70. Also celebrating is singer/guitarist Pete Loeffler of Chevelle (42).
Patrick Simmons is best known as a member of The Doobie Brothers, and he has been the only perpetual member of the band throughout their tenure. He wrote many of the band's songs, including their first number 1 hit 'Black Water'. The Doobie Brothers have sold over 40 million records worldwide, and have been active in five decades, with their biggest success occurring in the 1970's. As of 2017, the band maintains an active presence on social media including facebook, twitter, and Instagram. Their official website has been active since 1996 and they continue to tour heavily. I last saw the Doobie Brothers at the Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck, NY a couple years back and the band played to an enthusiastic capacity crowd. Cheers to Patrick Simmons on his 70th birthday today!
