The Halloween & Costume Association has launched a petition at Change.Org asking President Trump to move Halloween to the last Saturday of October. That would make it what's known as a floating holiday, like Presidents Day or Labor Day.
The Association believes that moving Halloween to a Saturday would make it a "safer, longer, stress-free celebration." They cite several statistics, one being, according to them, 51% of Americans say that Halloween is their favorite holiday, so why cram it into two rushed, weekday hours when it deserves a full day?
I think they're on to something here - and I'm with them.
And here's a story about all of this in the Washington Post.
