12 New Big Laws for New Jersey in 2019

It's a brand new year in New Jersey, with brand news laws taking effect.

Health Insurance Mandate:  There is a statewide individual mandate requiring residents to acquire health insurance or pay a fine.

No Smoking on the Beach:  Starting January 16th, there is no smoking on New Jersey public beaches or state parks.  

Hair Braiding Licenses:  New Jersey hair braiders must now have a license and 40-50 hours of instruction.

New Birth Certificates for Transgender Individuals:  Starting February 2nd, people who have undergone a gender change can apply for a new birth certificate.
