Sussex County Library System Makers Day Events March 23

Sussex County Library System invites hands-on hobbyists of all ages to join in as they celebrate the Fifth Annual NJ Makers Day on Saturday, March 23.

“We are hosting a wide variety of hands-on events including watercolor painting, three-dimensional book arts, and even the basics of soldering and circuitry for kids” stated Adult Services Librarian Louisa Bann. “This is our fifth year joining in the statewide Makers Day celebration and each year there’s something new and fun to learn.”

The majority of events will be held at the Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike in Frankford where the day begins at 10:00 a.m. with an FM Radio Build for Kids, and ends at 4:30 p.m. when Watercolor Painting 101 for adults wraps up with each participant taking home their own masterpiece. In addition to scheduled workshops each Sussex County Library Branch is hosting drop-in crafts including origami, book folding and button-making.

Several of the programs require registration which can be done through the Events Calendar link at or by stopping at your local branch.

NJ Makers Day is a statewide event that celebrates and promotes maker culture, as well as the values associated with making, tinkering, crafting, manufacturing and STEM-based (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning.
