It's been five years since Mötley Crüe last released new music in support of their biopic, The Dirt.
At the time, the band members assured fans that their collaboration on the soundtrack was just like their collaboration on the film and not a sign of a full-scale reunion to come.
In the years since, there's been a world tour and a retirement, as the band bid farewell to cofounding guitarist Mick Mars and vowed to carry on with their longtime friend, world-renowned guitar virtuoso John 5 in Mars' stead.
Now, the nü Crüe is back again with new music, capturing their new combination on record with "Dogs of War."
"It's sort of a timestamp of like, 'Here's where we're at musically, right here, right now,'" drummer Tommy Lee told Q104.3 New York's Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke. "We wanted to record some new stuff, because the energy from John 5 has really inspired us all."
"The new song is pretty heavy," added singer Vince Neil. "But then the softness of it too, it's got both of 'em. It's like savory and sweet, you know? It's got all the elements of a good rock song."
