Starting today, passengers at Newark Liberty International Airport can expect increased delays due to security upgrades. The Transportation Security Administration is updating screening technology at Terminal A, causing potential disruptions in security lanes. The work is scheduled to continue until Friday, May 10th. Passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure time to accommodate for the potential delays.

Following the completion of upgrades at Terminal A, similar work will commence at Terminal B from Monday May 13th through Friday June 21st. During this period, no more than one lane per gate area will be taken out of service each week. Passengers using Terminal B are advised to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure time.

The TSA and the Port Authority of NY & NJ are working closely with contractors to minimize the impact on passengers. The upgrades are part of an ongoing effort to ensure the best security technology solutions for passengers and maintain a state of good repair at the airport.
