Snowy weather has led to delayed school openings across North Jersey today (December 16). The National Weather Service predicts that snow, which began overnight in northwestern New Jersey, will turn to rain later this morning. This weather could affect the morning commute, especially along and north of Interstate 80.

Several schools have announced delayed openings, including Frankford, High Point Regional High School, Montague, Mount Olive, Sussex-Wantage, Wanaque, and West Milford. According to the National Weather Service, untreated roads may become slippery, impacting travel.

As the day progresses, the snow is expected to change to rain, potentially easing travel conditions. However, commuters are advised to remain cautious, especially in areas north of Interstate 80.
