Students in New Jersey can enjoy significant savings on their commute as NJ Transit brings back its popular "Buy 3 Months, Get 1 Month Free" student pass promotion for the Spring 2025 semester. This offer is available to both full-time and part-time degree-seeking students attending participating colleges and universities. In addition to the promotional offer, students already benefit from a 25-percent discount on monthly passes when purchased through the NJ Transit mobile app.

To qualify for the promotion, students must purchase a student monthly pass for February, March, and April 2025 via the NJ Transit mobile app. After completing these purchases, they will receive a free pass for May 2025, which is non-refundable and non-transferable. The free pass does not cover travel to or from SEPTA, Metro-North stations, or Newark Liberty International Airport.

The promotion aims to provide students with over 60 percent savings on transportation costs compared to one-way fares. Students must register through their school's portal and verify eligibility each semester using their school-provided email. The student pass will appear as a ticket option in the app starting at 5 p.m. on the 19th of the preceding month through the 10th of the travel month.

NJ Transit, the largest statewide public transportation system in the United States, offers this promotion to encourage students to use public transportation and reduce the need for on-campus parking. For more information on participating schools, students can visit the NJ Transit website.
