Vasfije Cain, 43, appeared yesterday, (Monday September 24th) in Hopatcong Municipal Court where a Judge advised her of the charge against her, which is an animal cruelty charge of hitting a domestic animal and failing to report.
Cain applied for a public defender with a gift from the judge. Her application fee was reduced from $200 to $100 because Cain stated, "Because of what has been going on, I was termed from both my jobs and I'm unemployed".
First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller told the NJ Herald that Cain's charge could be dismissed because there is no physical evidence to prove Cain or her son ran over a cat (or cats).
A trial date will be set once the defendant secures representation.
