TIME OF INCIDENT:Around 8:30 pm Friday May 19, 2017
LOCATION: Byram Cove, Lake Hopatcong -- off of Maxim Drive, Knollwood section to the right of Sisters Island
INVESTIGATED BY: Sgt. Bianculli and NJSP Marine Bureau
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: On Saturday May 20, 2017 Sgt. Bianculli responded to a home in the Knollwood section of Hopatcong for a missing person. It was reported that Friday night May 19th Arthur Clarke age: 64 left to go for a swim around 8:30 pm. (This is not unusual for Mr. Clarke. He is an avid swimmer who swims both in cold months as well as near night fall). His elderly mother went to bed and did not notice that Mr. Clarke did not return until she woke up early Saturday morning. A neighbor was contacted who found Mr. Clarkes flip flops and shirt on the dock of the Clarkes lakefront home. His personal belongings were home as well as his bicycle and vehicle. The NJ State Police Marine Bureau has been conducting searches of the Lake. We are hoping for the best. Anyone with information or has seen Arthur is asked to contact the Hopatcong Borough Police Department. Mr. Clarke was a Hopatcong School teacher and is owner of Hopatcong Eye Care. He is well known in our community. Family members are with his elderly mother. We are asking if you know the family, that you do not contact the family. His eldery mother is not in the best of health. To the Press that means you too. Give the woman the peace she needs. You can take pictures of the lake but please leave her alone. Now lets take a minute and pray that Arthur is okay.
