Terry McAuliffe was a guest on my Long Island radio show long before he became governor of Virginia. He was in town to help Tom Suozzi raise funds in his campaign to become Nassau's County Executive, a race that Mr. Suozzi won. I remember Terry McAuliffe as a very interesting character and a very effective fundraiser. He told me he had once wrestled an alligator for a $15,000 political contribution. Now that's dedication, and showmanship.
Mr. McAuliffe has been the Governor of Virginia since January of 2014. And there's a strong buzz in Washington that says he just might throw his hat in the ring and make a bid to be the next U.S. President. According to one insider, it's only a question of whether to announce in December '18 or January '19.
Here's the story on Terry McAuliffe looking past the Clinton family and toward the year 2020, which was published today on Politico. For those interested in presidential politics, it is a very interesting piece.
