I did it! Saturday morning, I did my first tandem skydive at Skydive Sussex with Rich Winstock. This was an absolutely exhilarating experience, and I loved it.
We only had to wait a short while due to clowd cover, but once Rich gave us the green light, we hopped in the plane with a few other tandem divers and took to the skies.
Sussex Skydive flies the highest in the Northeast, so we were up at 14,500 feet before the door opened. Rich had talked me thorough the whole thing more than once, but still, when you get up there, you're just not going to remember everything he said. But that's cool. I was secured tight next to Rich and he guided me through the whole thing - through the one-minute free fall, and then the eight-minute canopy ride safely back to Sussex Airport. I saw the Manhattan skyline, High Point Tower. It was a mostly clear day, and I saw everything.
