I'm a word guy. I write crossword puzzles as a hobby and I'm lucky enough to sell them to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. It's what I do at night, when I'm away from the radio station.
So I'm happy to see that the people at Merriam-Webster have announced their new words for 2018. There are a ton of new ones. "Cryptocurrency" is a noun for digital money. "Wordie" is a word lover. "Harissa" is a spicy North African chili paste. A "yorkie-poo" is a cross between a yorkshire terrier and a poodle. A "silver alert" is when an elderly person goes missing. There are a lot more new ones you can read about at the link.
