The operator of an illegal dump in Vernon has lost control of his bank accounts. According to NJ.com, Superior Court Judge Maritza Berdote Byrne appointed a receiver to take control of assets belonging to Joseph Wallace.

The receiver will reportedly marshal Wallace's assets and hire personnel to make sure any environmental contamination is cleaned up. Earlier this year, the 75-foot tall dirt and debris pile at his Silver Spruce Drive property tested positive for probable human carcinogens.

Wallace was previously sentenced to spend 90 days in the Sussex County Jail and fined $58,500 for municipal violations but his sentence has been stayed after he began the appeals process.
